We have some exciting changes on the horizon at SUMMIT! Ms. Mary Beaton will be our new second grade teacher, as Stephanie Miller will be fulfilling her role as Assistant Principal on a full-time basis. Ms. Beaton holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Education, and a teaching credential in Early Childhood Education. She has over a decade of teaching experience with children in preschool through second grade, and most recently was the teacher’s assistant in kindergarten for a year at SUMMIT and then our first grade teacher for 3 years. She has been home raising her daughter for the last 5 years. We are thrilled to welcome her back.
Mrs. Jenn Newton will be teaching all of first grade, as Madison Kifer will be focusing her attention on her family next year. Mrs. Newton has over 15 years of experience in educational environments. She has worked with all ages in several different venues of instruction, and holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree with a focus on Development and Social Psychology. Mrs. Newton’s work with the first grade classroom at SUMMIT has made an impression, and we are grateful to her for providing a smooth transition for her students this year after Mrs. DuBois’s decision to stay home with her new baby. We are thankful for Mrs. Kifer and for her time as first grade teacher over the last two years. She will be missed by staff and students alike, and we pray for God to bless her and her family as she looks to begin a new chapter.
Mrs. Erica Frasure will be our pre-k teacher next school year. She holds an Associate’s Degree from Cabrillo College and has over 20 years of experience working with children. Mrs. Frasure has taught preschool and pre-k for the last nine years. She joined our Summer Camp teaching staff in 2021, and has spent the last three years developing her own successful program. We are grateful to Mrs. Daniel for her work with Pre-K this school year and we look forward to the possibility of utilizing her skills in other needed areas in the future.
